Benchmarking Central Ohio 2013
Co-sponsored by the Columbus Partnership and The Columbus Foundation, Benchmarking Central Ohio 2013 represents the fifth edition of an invaluable resource to help community leaders better understand how central Ohio is stacking up against peer communities across the country. The report compares the Columbus region to 15 metro areas on 90 indicators in five broad areas: population vitality, economic strength, personal prosperity, lifelong learning, and community wellbeing. There are 14 new indicators in the 2013 report on topics that include entrepreneurship, transportation choices, and the creative economy.
This work began in 2005, when the Partnership convened a meeting with representatives of organizations involved in diverse policy and program areas to discuss the need for, and feasibility of, a community benchmarking effort in central Ohio. Based on input from that meeting and discussions with potential project funders, the Partnership asked CRP to design and implement the first Benchmarking Central Ohio report to track and assess Columbus’ economic competitiveness against both similar and best-in-class communities.
