A Plan for Action for South Columbus: PAMA's Action Items for 2017

1. PAMA and our stakeholders will work with Keep Columbus Beautiful and public/private sector supporters and neighborhood groups to literally clean up Parsons Avenue. Three words about litter: Pick It Up!
2. Support current public/private businesses and development projects in the Greater Parsons Avenue corridor.
3. Work with Neighborhood Design Center on signage and facade improvements and interior improvements for eligible Parsons businesses, with particular emphasis on restoring historic/vintage signage and helping businesses take full advantage of City services and incentives.
4. Use public and private art, and creative plantings, to celebrate the immigrant and industrial heritage of South Columbus. Maintain and expand the 7+ year old Plant Pride on Parsons program to include maintenance of the current 126 planters, new planters and pocket park gardens, a community orchard and fruit tree planting, and new murals along the Avenue. Particular emphasis on immigrant stories and the history of the people of the steel, glass, agricultural, and entertainment industries of the South Side of Columbus.
5. Do deep-dive of research with Neighborhood Design Center, property owners, and other stakeholders on Parsons, identifying candidates for development of ethnic and other independent restaurants, housing for artists, and other creative repurposing of current existing and diverse structures on Parsons Avenue.
6. Operate the South Columbus Visitor Center at Village Pointe commercial development site.
7. Strengthen partnerships with neighborhood civic groups, the Neighborhood Design Center, Keep Columbus Beautiful, Parsons Avenue Revitalization Corporation (PARC), Columbus Small Business Development Center, Rotary, sources of working capital and technical assistance for entrepreneurs, and other strategic stakeholders to improve the economic development climate in South Columbus.
